Kindle is on fire! Why I am personally touting the e-book doesn’t quite make sense since I am not yet the proud owner of one. But there is method to my madness. According to the New York Times, Amazon Kindle is cornering the e-book market with 67% of sales. Barnes and Noble’s Nook is selling well (according to Barnes & Noble) but has nabbed only 13% of the e-reader market. This is encouraging news since my trade paperback is available as an e-book on Amazon Kindle. On the other hand, many “fans” tell me they can’t wait to get their hands on a hard copy of Take Off Your Hat and Spit Out Your Gum - A Teacher’s Memoir. How else will they get a signed copy? Somehow I don’t think Kindle and Nook owners would appreciate my Sharpie-scrawled signature across their screens. Only time will tell whether readers’ fingers prefer to do the walking or the scrolling.
