Appointed Rounds of Golf

“Neither snow nor rain, nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” That’s why Skydrive was invented – for golfers who just cannot wait for fair weather. Tired of frequenting the golf retail stores in order to demo clubs (but also to keep my swing oiled) since the temperatures dropped back in November, Kenny and I ventured out to one of the only all-weather driving ranges on Long Island. It felt good to get back to what became an obsession over the summer. Surprisingly enough (shocking, actually), I hit fairly well today. Kenny had some shots that sailed out of the park. I told him he looks like he’s ready to play with the big boys. With every shot, I set it up, taking my time and heeding all of the various tips I’ve accumulated in recent months. “Staying down” has new meaning for me and it doesn’t hurt to be playing with clubs that fit. Haven’t made the big purchase yet but I borrowed a couple of ladies standard irons to use (Ping and Callaway – Ping-0!) and they made all the difference. We each hit a bucket of 90 balls and just as I was finishing up, a gentleman decided to leave and handed me a bucket of about 60 more – a Christmas bonus. Not a bad day on the range.
